Community
We are here for our local community: organisations, charities and sporting teams.
Community Purpose Contribution Scheme
The Mawson Club helps promote and develop Rugby League in the Canberra region and proudly supports our local junior and senior participants in the Canberra Regional Rugby League (CRRL) competitions each season.
We are here for our local community, whether it be for community organisations, charities or sporting teams, and our hope is to continue to provide this support into the future.
The Mawson Club is a community-based club that is required by law to support the local community and surrounding region. The club's main objective, as described in its Memorandum and Articles of Association, is to assist generally in the promotion, conduct and development and propagation of Rugby League Football in the Australian Capital Territory and elsewhere.
How we support the community
The club is also required to engage with the community and consider community needs in making Community Purpose Contributions (CPC). The following categories are prescribed as allowable purposes:
- Charitable
- Recreational
- Education
- Social inclusion, equality or cultural diversity
- Community sport
- Addressing substance misuse or dependence
- Women's sport
- Natural disaster relief or assistance
If you feel that your organisation falls within one of these categories, you can make a request by emailing info@mawsonclub.com.au.
Chief Minister's Charitable Fund
You may also consider applying for a grant from the Chief Minister's Charitable Fund, which is financed by all clubs in the ACT through an additional tax levy on gaming machines. Information is available from Hands Across Canberra.
The Mawson Club welcomes all enquiries and will continue to support, engage and consult with the local community and surrounding region.
